We often hear that many people, especially kids, complain about diarrhea and stomach problems. It is often thought that the problem is with the water. How safe is our water to drink directly from the tap? How does the quality of our water compare with the World Health Organization’s Guidelines?

    • As a principle, NamWater ensures that the bulk water supply to Local Authority conforms to the required WHO guidelines.
    • This means that the disinfectant residual used in the water must still be detectable at a minimum required level.  As such the water is safe to drink, as long as it does not stand for too long in the reticulation of the Local Authority. The latter is responsible for the safe keeping of water and to further disinfect the water, if need be.
    • NamWater subscribes to Namibian government guidelines that are very much comparable to those of WHO. From an international point of view, our water is very safe to drink.
