Purpose of use

Transfer of raw water from Calueque dam up to Oshakati purification plant for potable, live stock and irrigation demand.

Brief description of system

Raw water is pumped out of the Calueque Dam and discharged into the Calueque-Oshakati canal 2,4 km downstream of the dam. The 150 km long concrete lined canal is constructed with different cross sections along the route.

Capacity

The capacity of the canal starts of with 10m3/s and decreases in steps along the route up to 0.8 m3/s.
