Description of Plant:
The treatment starts with pre-chlorination as the water enters the purification works. The water is then dosed with the flocculant at the flash mixer. Due to a slightly different raw-water, no lime dosing is required to reduce the corrosivity of the water.
From the flash mixer, water runs through the flocculation channels to two clarifiers. In the flocculation channels, the flocculant binds the tiny dirt particles into bigger sized particles referred to as “floc”.
In the clarifiers, the floc sinks to the bottom, and the clear water from the top overflows into concrete channels that lead to the sand filters. The floc that settles is automatically removed every 15 minutes to half an hour as a thick slurry.
As the water leaves the clarifiers, chlorine is again added in the channels just before the sand filters, which remove the rest of the floc particles. After that the water is again disinfected by chlorine.
After filtration and chlorination the water is suitable for human consumption. It enters a 300 m3 clear water well and is then pumped to a 3 000 m3 capacity concrete reservoir from where it is distributed to the Roshskor Village and the Rosh Pinah and Skorpion mines.
