Description of Plant : There are two water treatment plants at Rundu; one supplying drinking water mainly to Rundu Town, the industrial area and Sauyemwa, while the other supplies Nkarapamwe, Kehemu, Safari, Ndama, Donkerhoek, Kaisosi, the airport and the military base.

Since the water from the Okavango River is already fairly clean, both water treatment plants employ only two purification steps.

The raw water from the river is pumped directly into pressure sand filters for filtration. After that it is disinfected with chlorine as it flows from the filters to the reservoirs. The drinking water is then distributed to the various suburbs mentioned above.
